The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, in partnership with the County Government of Kajiado, will undertake an integrated sustainable waste management, whereby, the Ngong dumpsite will be trans located to a landfill that is far from the population.

Speaking when he made an inspection tour of the Ngong dumpsite in Kajiado County in the company of the Kajiado Governor, H.E. Joseph ole Lenku, the Principal Secretary in the State Department of Environment Mr. Charles Sunkuli announced that, the Italian Government will support the relocation of the dumpsite, that is an environmental and health hazard, at a cost of Ksh. 2.1Billion.

Speaking during the same function, the Governor, Kajiado County, Hon. Joseph ole Lenku said his administration welcomed the relocation of the dumpsite, saying that, it was one of his flagship projects.

Environmental and health hazard- A lorry offloads solid waste at the Ngong dumpsite. The dumpsite will be relocated to a new landfill at a cost of Ksh. 2.1Billion.
