Speaking while he received the highly productive hass variety avocado seedlings, Bomet  Governor Dr. Hillary Barchok said the farmers would reap greatly from the avocados saying not only will they earn good money but would improve the environment as well benefit from other products such as firewood and timber.

“Hass Avocados have proven to be a lucrative venture with farmers who embraced the idea earlier already reaping and raking in huge profits. We urge more farmers to come on board” he added.

Dr. Barchok said the programme was aimed at improving forest coverage owing to several years of agricultural practices that have seen indigenous trees depleted while harmful exotic plants greatly embraced.
