Environment and Forestry Principal Secretary Dr. Chris Kiptoo visited the Kenya Forestry  Research Institute, (KEFRI), Rift Valley Ecological Region Centre in Londiani, to inspect the Institute’s preparedness and capacity to produce enough seedlings to cater for the annual demand for seedlings towards   the projected 10% forest cover.

Speaking during the visit, the PS urged KEFRI to prioritize quality seeds and seedlings production to actualize the national campaign for increasing the country’s forest cover to 10% by 2020.

The PS also visited the Kenya Forest Service Training College in Londiani. He encouraged the youth to  consider enrolling in the institution to be equipped with skills necessary for the forestry sector.
