Environment Secretary, Dr. Alice Kaudia looks on as members of the disciplined force take part in tree planting during this year’s World Day to Combat Desertification in Kirinyaga County.

Kenyans have been reminded of the need to address issues of climate change that threaten the country’s future economic growth, environment and sustainable development.

Speaking during the commemoration of the 2014 World Day to Combat Desertification in Mwea Secondary, Kirinyaga County, the Environment Secretary in the State Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Dr. Alice Kaudia, who represented the Cabinet Secretary Prof. Judi Wakhungu noted that, the Ministry had formulated the National Climate Change Response Strategy through which specific sector responses and interventions were identified. The strategy will enhance resilience to climate change based on low – carbon pathway and practices.
