120034261_1323453931336934_1774868596119178294_n The Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS), in the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Hon. Mohammed Elmi, has observed that, Kenya is proud to have made great strides towards sustainable development, restoration and preservation of its ecosystem. He has at the same time challenged Kenyans to ensure that, the heritage they have, is protected and bequeathed for future generations as a gift.

Speaking while touring projects that are being implemented by state corporations under the Ministry in Taita Taveta County, the CAS mooted for a coordinated approach in the implementation of government projects, between national and county governments. He urged staff from the Ministry’s SAGA’s working in the county to hold regular coordinated planning meetings, in order to champion the Ministry’s strategic objectives, including the clarion call of the 10% national tree planting campaign.

The CAS, who is leading a ministerial team to monitor and evaluate projects under the Ministry in the coast region, visited the NEMA Green Point in Mwatate, the KEFRI seed centre in Ngerenyi, Wundanyi, the Farm and Dry lands forest plantations under the KFS in Wundanyi, and the Fuji hill restoration program and Mdangehu spring protection for sustainable development project by the Kenya Water Towers Agency.

Earlier, the CAS had paid a courtesy call on the Taita Taveta County Commissioner , in Mwatate, where he was received by the Assistant County Commissioner, Mr.Dennis Juma.120034666_1323453558003638_6890976384190078814_n
