Environment and Forestry Cabinet Secretary Keriako Tobiko led a tree planting exercise at Jeremiah Nyagah Technical Institute in Embu County where 2,000 tree seedlings were planted.

The two thousand trees planted at the Institution were part of the 2 million donated for Embu County Tree Planting Initiative. The balance will be distributed to public institutions, schools and communities. The Tree Growing Initiative organized by The Council of Governors is a pre-conference activity for the 7th Annual Devolution Conference scheduled for 23rd ~26th August, 2021 in Makueni County.

The Initiative targets to grow 2 million tree seedlings before the conference in Makueni, Machakos, Kitui, Embu and Kajiado counties.

H.E The President of the Republic of Kenya will plant the 2 Million tree during the conference in Makueni County

Devolution and ASALs Cabinet Secretary, Eugene Wamalwa, Council of Governors Chairperson and Embu Governor, Martin Wambora, Vihiga Governor, Wilbur Otichillo, Embu County Commissioner Mohamed Galgalo, Norman Nyagah, BOG Member of the Jeremiah Nyagah Technical Institute among others participated in the tree growing exercise.

The 7th Annual Devolution Conference the theme is Multi – level governance for climate action with the overall objective of strengthening Sub-national governments to act on climate change and develop stronger mitigation capacities. #Decon2MillionTrees
