The principal secretary for Environment and Forestry Mr. Al Noor Ismail has said Kenya is confident that its Nationally Determined Contribution to the Paris Agreement will make a positive impact on climate change.

He said the Ministry of Environment and Forestry was determined to implement the Paris agreement on climate change and the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal protocol to reduce production and use of substances that emit powerful green house gases that cause global warming.

Kenya is currently implementing the climate change ACT while formulation of the National Climate Change Action Plan is at an advanced stage with high level stakeholder’s consultations going on after which it will be finalized for implementation.

The country enacted the Climate Change Act, 2016 aiming to provide a regulatory framework for an enhanced response to climate change and to provide mechanisms and measures to improve resilience to the long term alteration in weather patterns……read more
